Course Description

This is a case study course where various actual situations are presented and analyzed. Agents gain an understanding of issues that arise as a result of mistakes being made during the home buying and selling process. Each case presents a closing that either did not occur or was delayed and describes the impact it had on buyers and sellers.

The course presents a detailed review of the discovery of the problem, the effects, and the ultimate solution or consequences. Each situation is further evaluated to determine what real estate agents could have done in the course of their work to have prevented the delay or demise of the closing. In some situations, it was agent error or lack of follow-up, and in others, it was agents not being aware of potential issues that could cause delays.

This course has been approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission for 3 CEUs.
